Dr. Mark, a well-known cancer specialist, was once on his way to an important conference in another city, where he was going to be honoured by an award in the field of medical research.

He was very excited to attend the conference and was desperate to reach as soon as possible.

He had worked long and hard on his research and felt his efforts deserved the award he was about to obtain.

However, two hours after the plane took off, the plane made an emergency landing at the nearest airport due to some technical snag.

Afraid, that he wouldn't make it in time for the conference, Dr. Mark, immediately went to the reception counter and found that the next flight to the destination was after ten hours.

The receptionist suggested him, to rent a car and drive down to the conference city which was only four hours drive.

Having no other choice, he agreed to the idea, despite his hatred for driving long distances.

Dr. Mark rented a car and started the journey.

However,
Soon after he started, the weather suddenly changed and a heavy storm began.

The pouring rain made it very difficult to see the road and missed a turn he was supposed to take.

After two hours of driving, he was convinced, he was lost.

Driving in the heavy rain on a deserted road, feeling hungry and tired, he frantically began to look for any sign of civilization.

After some time, he finally came across a small tattered house.

Desperate, he got out of the car and knocked on the door.

A beautiful young lady opened the door.

He explained the situation and asked her if he could use her telephone.

However, the lady told him that she doesn't have a phone or any electronic gadget but told him to come inside and wait till the weather improved.

Hungry, wet and  exhausted, the doctor accepted her kind offer and walked in.

The lady gave him hot tea and something to eat. He was feeling relaxed.

The lady requested him to join her for prayer.

But, Dr. Mark smiled and said that he believed in hard work only and told her to continue with her prayers.

Sitting on the chair, the doctor watched the woman sitting in the dim light of candles as she prayed next to what appeared to be a small baby crib.

Every time she finished a prayer, she would start another one.

The Doctor felt that, the woman is in need of some help, and spoke to her as soon as she finished her prayers.

The doctor asked her, what exactly she wanted from the God, and enquired if she thought God will ever listen to her prayers. He further asked about the small child in the crib for whom she was apparently praying.

The lady gave a sad smile and said that the child in the crib is her
son who is suffering from a rare type of cancer and there is only one doctor Mark, who can cure him but she doesn't have money to afford his fees and moreover, Dr Mark lives in another far off town.

She said that God will certainly answer her prayer one day and will create some way out one day and added that she will not allow her fears to overcome her faith.

Stunned and speechless Dr Mark was in tears, which were rolling down his cheeks.

He whispered, God is great !
and recollected the sequence of events.

there was malfunction in the plane,
a thunderstorm hit,lost his way;
and all this happened, because, God not only just answer her prayers, but also gave him a chance to come out of materialistic world and spare some time to help the poor hapless people, who have nothing but rich prayers !!!

தன் குழந்தைக்கு  உயிரை கொடுப்பவர் தந்தை. தாயானவள் தன் கருவறையில் அந்த உயிருக்கு மெய் (கண், காது, மூக்கு, உடல் உறுப்புகள்) கொடுப்பவள் தாய்.

இந்த உயிரும் , மெய்யும் கலந்து உயிர் மெய்யாக வெளிப்படுவது குழந்தை. எந்த மொழியிலும் அம்மா, அப்பாவுக்கு இந்த அர்த்தங்கள் கிடையாது. நமது தமிழ் மொழியில் தான் இத்துனை அற்புதங்கள் உள்ளது..!!

              மிகப் பெரிய சக்கரவர்த்தி அவன். அவனுக்கு கீழ் பல சிற்றரசுகள் உள்ளன. ஒரு முறை இந்த அரசனின் அவைக்கு வருகை தந்த சீன தேசத்து  சேர்ந்த அறிஞர் ஒருவர் தாயை இழந்த இரண்டு பஞ்சவர்ண கிளிக்குஞ்சுகளை பரிசளித்துவிட்டு சென்றார்.  பஞ்சவர்ண கிளியை அதிர்ஷ்டத்தின் சின்னமாக கருதுவர் என்பதால் அரசன் மிகவும் அக மகிழ்ந்து தனது நாட்டின் பறவைகள் பயிற்சியாளரை அழைத்து “இவற்றை நல்ல முறையில் பராமரித்து, பழக்கப்படுத்தி பறப்பதற்கு பயிற்சியளியுங்கள்!” என்று கட்டளையிட்டான்.

மாதங்கள் உருண்டோடின. பறவைகள் எப்படி வளர்கின்றன? நன்றாக பறக்கின்றனவா? என்று தெரிந்துகொள்ள பயிற்சியாளரை அழைத்தான் மன்னன்.

“அரசே… இரண்டு பறவைகளில் ஒன்று நன்றாக பறக்க கற்றுக்கொண்டுவிட்டது. மற்றொன்று எவ்வளவோ முயற்சித்தும் அது அமர்ந்திருக்கும் கிளையை விட்டு நகர மறுக்கிறது” என்றான்.

உடனே மன்னன், தனது நாட்டில் உள்ள பிரசித்தி பெற்ற கால்நடை மருத்துவர்களையும் பறவையியல் நிபுணர்களையும் அழைத்து பறவைக்கு என்ன ஆயிற்று? அது ஏன் பறக்க மறுக்கிறது? என்று ஆராயுமாறு கட்டளியிட்டான்.

அவர்களும் அதை முற்றிலும் பரிசோதித்துவிட்டு, “இந்த பறவையிடம் எந்த குறையுமில்லை. உடலில் ஊனமுமில்லை. ஆனால் அது ஏன் பறக்க மறுக்கிறது என்று புரியவில்லை அரசே” என்றனர்.

உடனே தனது அமைச்சரை அழைத்து “என்ன செய்வீர்களோ ஏது செய்வீர்களோ தெரியாது. இந்த கிளி இன்னும் இரண்டு நாளில் பறக்கவேண்டும்” என்றான் கண்டிப்புடன்.

சில நாட்கள் கழித்து ஒரு நாள் தனது மாளிகையின் உப்பரிகையிலிருந்து வெளியே பார்க்கிறான். கிளி அதே இடத்தில் தான் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தது. நகரவேயில்லை. மன்னனுக்கு என்னவோ போலிருந்தது.

“இதற்கு என்ன ஆயிற்று ஏன் பறக்க மறுக்கிறது என்று தெரியவில்லையே? நாட்டுப்புறத்தில் உள்ள வயலில் வேலை செய்யும் விவசாயிகள் அல்லது மூத்த குடிமக்கள் எவரையேனும் அணுகி இது பற்றி கேட்கவேண்டும். அவர்களுக்கு ஒருவேளை இது பறக்க மறுப்பதன் காரணம் தெரிந்திருக்க்கலாம்” என்று கருதி உடனே காவலர்களை அழைத்து, “நாட்டுப்புறத்திற்கு போய் யாரேனும் ஒரு மூத்த விவசாயி ஒருவரை அழைத்து வா” என்று கட்டளையிட்டான்.

அடுத்தநாள் காலை கண்விழிக்கும்போது, அந்த பஞ்சவர்ணக் கிளி மரத்தை சுற்றி அங்கும் இங்கும் பறந்துகொண்டிருப்பதை பார்த்தான்.

அவனுக்கு ஒரே சந்தோஷம். “இந்த அற்புதத்தை செய்தவரை உடனே அழைத்து வாருங்கள்!” என்றான்.

அந்த விவசாயி மன்னன் முன்பு வந்து பணிந்து நின்றார்.

“எல்லாரும் முயற்சி செய்து தோற்றுவிட்ட நிலையில் நீ மட்டும் கிளியையை எப்படி பறக்கச் செய்தாய்?”

மன்னன் முன் தலையை வணங்கியபடி விவசாயி சொன்னார்… “அது ரொம்ப சுலபமான காரியம் அரசே. மரத்தில் ஏறி அந்த பறவை உட்கார்ந்திருந்த கிளையை நான் வெட்டிவிட்டேன். வேறொன்றுமில்லை!” என்றார்.

இறைவனும் சில சமயம் அந்த விவசாயி போல, நம்மை நமது சக்தியை உணரச் செய்யவேண்டி, நாம் அமர்ந்திருக்கும் கிளையை வெட்டிவிடுவான். அது நமது நன்மைக்கே. நம் சக்தியை ஆற்றலை நாம் உணரவேண்டியே என்று கருதி நம்மை உயர்த்திக்கொள்ள முயற்சிக்கவேண்டும்.

நாம் அனைவரும் உயர உயர பறப்பதற்கு படைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள். ஆனால் பல சமயங்களில் நாம் நமது சக்தியை உணராமல் ஒரே இடத்தில் அமர்ந்து கொண்டு பழக்கப்பட்ட வேலைகளை மட்டுமே அது தான் நம்மால் முடியும் என்று கருதி செய்து வருகிறோம். நாம் சாதிக்க கூடியவை எண்ணற்றவை. முடிவற்றவை. ஆனால் நம்மில் பலருக்கு அது கண்டுபிடிக்கப்படாமலே போய்விடுகிறது. செக்கு மாடு போல, ஒரே இடத்தில், மிக சுலபமான, ஒரே வேலையை செய்வதிலே தான் நாம் ஆர்வம் செலுத்துகிறோம். ஆகையால் தான் பலருக்கு வாழ்க்கை ஒரு உற்சாகமான, த்ரிலிங்கான, மன நிறைவான ஒன்றாக இல்லாமல் மிகச் சாதாரணமாக கழிந்துவிடுகிறது.

நாம் அமர்ந்திருக்கும் (ஒட்டிக்கொண்டிருக்கும்) பயமென்னும் கிளையை வெட்டி எறிந்து, உயரப் பறக்கும் பெருமிதத்திற்க்காக சுதந்திரப் பறவைகளாய் நம்மை விடுவித்துக்கொள்வோம். நாம் சாதிக்கப் பிறந்தவர்கள். செக்கு மாடுகள் அல்ல.

Spending to live not live to spend

A lady to her husband: Avoid giving too many clothes for laundry.

Husband: What happened?

Wife: The maid won’t be coming for work for a couple of days.

Husband: Why?

Wife: She’s going to see her granddaughter over to her daughters place over the Ganesh Chaturthi holidays.

Husband: Alright, I’ll keep that in mind.

Wife: Before I forget, how about we offer her a festive bonus? Rs. 500?

Husband: But why? Diwali is around the corner, why don’t we just give her the money then?

Wife: Oh, no… She’s a poor lady, works as a domestic help. She’s going to see her daughter. With her meagre income, how would she be able to enjoy a good holiday? Poor thing!

Husband: There you go! Getting overly sentimental again!

Wife: Don’t worry about the money; let’s cancel our plan for pizza for dinner tonight. No point wasting money over eight slices of stale bread.

Husband: Great! So now we have to give up on our pizza night so the maid can get a bonus?!

Three days later, when the maid is back at work, the lady’s husband asked her.

Husband: So, how was your holiday?

Maid: It was wonderful, sir. Didi had given me 500 as a festive bonus that added to the joy.

Husband: I heard you went over to your daughters place. Met your granddaughter?

Maid: Yes, sir. I had such a great time. We spent 500, all of it in just two days.

Husband: What did you buy with that money?

Maid: I bought my granddaughter a shirt for Rs. 150 and a doll for Rs. 40, sweets for my daughter and to offer at the temple for Rs. 50, each, spent Rs. 60 on the rent, bought my daughter bangles for Rs. 25, and a nice belt for my son in law for Rs. 50. We spent the rest of the money buying notebooks and stationery for my granddaughter.

Husband: All that for Rs. 500?

In a shocked state he started thinking and seeing pizza in his head.

Each piece of the pizza started buzzing in his head. He started comparing the pizza’s price with the maid’s festive expenses over her family.

He started imagining each piece of the pizza as different things she bought for her family like kids dress, sweets, rent, the bangles she bought, the belt she bought for her son in law, the books and pencil she bought.

He had only imagined the delicious part of the pizza, he had never thought of the other plain and dry part of it and today because of his maid he could understand the other part of the coin or the pizza. A simple 8 pieced pizza taught some reality of life.

This incident made him realize the meaning of “Spending to live not live to spend”.

இரண்டு மன்னர்களுக்குள் சண்டை.தோற்றவனிடம் வென்றவன் சொன்னான்
”நான் கேட்கும் கேள்விக்கு சரியான பதிலைச் சொன்னால் உன் நாடு உனக்கே”
கேள்வி : ஒரு பெண் தன் ஆழ்மனதில் என்ன நினைக்கிறாள்?
(வென்ற மன்னனின் காதலி அவனிடம் இக்கேள்வியைக் கேட்டு விட்டு விடை சாென்னால் தான் நமக்கு திருமணம் என்று சாெல்லியிருந்தாள்)
தோற்ற மன்னன் பலரிடம் கேட்டான்.விடை கிடைக்கவில்லை.கடைசியாக சிலர் சொன்னதால் ஒரு சூனியக்காரக் கிழவியிடம் சென்று கேட்டான்.
அவள் சொன்னாள்
விடை சொல்கிறேன். அதனால் அவனுக்கு திருமணம் ஆகும்;உனக்கு நாடு கிடைக்கும்.ஆனால் எனக்கு என்ன கிடைக்கும்?
அவன் சொன்னான்,“என்ன கேட்டாலும் தருகிறேன்”
சூனியக்கார கிழவி விடையைச் சொன்னாள்,'"தன் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட முடிவுகளைத் தானே எடுக்க வேண்டும் என்பதே ஒரு பெண்ணின் ஆழ்மனது எண்ணம்”
இப்பதிலை அவன் ஜெயித்த மன்னனிடம் சொல்ல,அவன் தன் காதலியிடம் சொல்ல,அவர்கள் திருமணம் நடந்தது.இவனுக்கு நாடும் கிடைத்தது.
அவன் சூனியக்கார கிழவியிடம் வந்தான்.வேண்டியதைக் கேள் என்றான்.
அவள் கேட்டாள்
"நீ என்னைத் திருமணம் செய்து கொள்ள வேண்டும்”
கொடுத்த வாக்கைக் காப்பாற்ற அவன் ஒப்புக் கொண்டான்.
உடனே கிழவி ஒரு அழகிய தேவதையாக மாறிக் காட்சி அளித்தாள்.
அவள் சொன்னாள்,
”நாம் வீட்டில் தனியாக இருக்கும் போது நான் கிழவியாக இருந்தால், உன்னுடன் வெளியே வரும்போது தேவதையாக இருப்பேன்; ஆனால் நான் வெளியே உன்னுடன் வரும் பாேது கிழவியாக இருந்தால் வீட்டில் உன்னுடன் அழகிய தேவதையாக இருப்பேன்.இதில் எது உன் விருப்பம்?” என்றாள்.
அவன் சற்றும் யோசிக்காமல் சொன்னான்”இது உன் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட விஷயம்;முடிவு நீ தான் எடுக்க வேண்டும்” என்று
அவள் சொன்னாள்”முடிவை என்னிடம் விட்டு விட்டதால் நான் எப்போதும் அழகிய தேவதையாக இருக்கத் தீர்மானித்து விட்டேன்.!” என்றாள்
ஆம்!
பெண் அவள் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட முடிவுகளை அவளே எடுக்கும்போது தேவதையாக இருக்கிறாள். முடிவுகள் அவள் மீது திணிக்கப்படும் போது சூனியக்காரக் கிழவியாகி விடுகிறாள்.

After years of hard & dedicated service to his Company, Ajay was being appointed at  an elegant reception as the new Director.

It was a small function where his wife Anita , a Home Executive & some of the wives of the other persons in top management were also present.

In an adjacent room, Ann, the wife of the CEO of the Company, asked Ajay's wife a very odd & usual question; "Does your  husband make you  happy?"

The husband, Ajay, who at that moment was not at her side, but was sufficiently near to hear the question, paid attention to the conversation, sitting up slightly, feeling secure, even filling his chest lightly in pride & hope,  would definitely not publically lower or degrade her husband, would answer affirmatively, since she had always been there for him during their marriage and generally in life.

Nevertheless, to both his & the others' surprise, she replied simply; "No, no he doesn't make me happy…"

The room became uncomfortably silent, as if everyone were listening to the spouse's response. There was a sudden coldness in the air. The husband was petrified. A frown appeared on his face.
He couldn't believe what his wife was saying, especially at such an important occasion for him. To the amazement of her husband & of everyone!

Anita sat up firmly & explained in a modest but stern tone to the other wives who were present;
"No, he doesn't make me happy… I AM HAPPY. The fact that I am happy or not doesn't depend on him, but on me. GOD has granted each of us intellect & discretion to reason, interpret & decide. GOD made me the person upon which my happiness depends.

I make the choice to be happy in each situation & in each moment of my life.
If my happiness were to depend on other people, on other things or circumstances on the face of this earth, I would be in serious trouble!

Over my life I have learned a couple of things: I decide to be happy & the rest is a matter of 'experiences or circumstances' like helping, understanding, accepting, listening, consoling & with my spouse, I have lived & practiced this many times.

Honestly true happiness lies in being content"

Relieved & reassured, a smile was clearly noticed on Ajay's face.

Happiness will always be found in contentment, forgiveness & in loving ourselves & others.
To truly love is difficult, it is to forgive unconditionally, to live, to take the "experiences or  circumstances" as they are, facing them together & being happy with conviction.

There are those who say I cannot be happy  :
· Because I am sick.
· Because I have no money.
· Because it's too cold.
· Because they insulted me.
· Because someone stopped loving me.
· Because someone didn't appreciate me.

But what they don't know is that they can be happy even though sick, whether it is too hot, whether they have money or not, whether someone has insulted them, or someone didn't love or hasn't valued them.

Being Happy is an attitude about life & each one of us must decide!

Being Happy, depends on us!

It Depends on Me.
I fall. I rise. I make mistakes. I live. I learn. I've been hurt but I'm alive. I'm human. I'm not perfect but I'm Thankful.😊
